Dia De Los Muertos

I worked my first wedding last night. It gave me the bright idea to blog about my thoughts on all the weddings. I know everyone has their own style and I appreciate that. No one wants a cookie cutter event. And when you see how much fun everyone is having at these events, it makes it all worth while. But I still have an opinion I am going to voice.

I titled this post "dia de los muertos" because of this...
I mean, its their wedding, they can do what they please with their cake. It was a vanilla and chocolate layered cake with fresh strawberries and cream as the filling. Ill be honest, not my fav.

The color scheme worked well, but I would prefer these colors in Fall, not April. The client provided their own chair covers and sashes. BIG MISTAKE. The covers didnt fit our chairs properly and the sashes were tied poorly. The chair covers were on site until maybe 40 minutes before the ceremony. So the entire extended family was helping. It ended up looking rather sloppy.
The flowers were so nice thanks to our flower lady. She is great! I was hoping they would leave a centerpiece so I could take it home, but they didnt! :(
As for the party, it was great! Their first dance was to a Gwen Stefani song, which was a little odd. And then the did the money dance, which is also odd to me. But the music was great, it was an open bar which made for a fun night!!

30 Days of Music: Day 3- A song that makes you happy

Music in general makes me happy. You can always find a song to go with your mood. So when I want to be happy...my go to artist is Tom Petty. All of his classic rock jams bring a smile to my face, particularly this one...

Bitch Work

I am so sick of being the low man on the totem pole! I know I just talked about this, but I think I am just super anxious to get into the sales office at my work. I know everyone has to start somewhere, but I just want to be there already!!! GRRRRRRR!

30 Days of Music: Day 2- Your least favorite song

This is hard...I like most music. I can listen to anything really. But Ill have to say one of my least favorite songs is "Around the World" By Daft Punk. Just because the only lyrics are around the world. But this music video made me kinda like it a little more...
But Im still going to consider it one of my least favorite songs.

30 Days of Music: Day 1- Your Favorite Song

ALL TIME FAVORITE SONG, HANDS DOWN IS....
JOURNEY DONT STOP BELIEVING!

Bigger and Better

Today was my first day at my new job! Ekk! So exciting. Driving there I wasnt nervous or anything and I know that the first day at a new job is always really awkward. So I was expecting the worst and hoping for the best. I remember a girl from Sierra Nevada telling me that on her first day she fainted. I can say I have never had that bad of a first day. So today was just orientation and getting to know the venue. It is kinda like the Winchester Mystery house where doors and hallways lead to crazy places. Hopefully I get the lay of the land quick. Everyone seems to be super nice. But it was only my first day so I dont know anyone too well yet.
Starting a new position sucks. I know you have to start from somewhere, but does it always have to be at the bottom of the totem pole? I am starting off my position as a server and moving my way up the ladder to the sales office. I know that I will end up in sales soon enough and I dont want to rush the learning process. But its like, I also know how to serve and set up banquets. Frustrating. Yet Exciting all at the same time.
The best part of my day was talking to my friends and reading all their support they left me on the good ole FB. I miss chico so much. And all my friends there. I just wish I had ONE friend here who knew me as well as my chico friends do.
On that note...I am excited for what is to come!! :)

So long Sierra Nevada.

Today was my last day at work at Sierra Nevada. I never thought I would ever work for this company, but I did and let me tell you, it was the best 11 months of my life. Everything about this company is great and the people who work for them make it even better. I learned so much and grew so much as a person thanks to this position, I truly cherish my time spent there.
On to bigger things...
